October 15, 2008
Global Link Logistics, forwarder of furniture from Asia to the U.S., will host a panel discussion at the High Point Market this month, offering logistics insight from experts in the furniture forwarding, ocean transportation and trucking industries to help furniture industry businesses navigate the choppy economic waters.
The free panel discussion, “Understanding Cost-Effective Solutions for Today's Furniture Logistics,” will cover combating rising fuel and transportation costs, managing Asia logistics and cost-effective transportation and logistics strategies for today’s global economy.
“The furniture industry is feeling the impact of rising fuel and transportation costs at a time of shrinking consumer demand,” said Hessel Verhage, president of Global Link Logistics. “There are still ways for furniture firms to reduce the landed cost and cash outlay required to meet demand. Global Link and our expert panelists are looking forward to discussing these topics and insights with the furniture industry at market.”
The discussion is Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. in the NHFA Retailer Resource Center, IHFC M, 12th floor. Panelists include Ed Feitzinger, Global Link senior vice president; Gene Winters, Global Link vice president of sales; David Xiao, "K" Line America vice president of marketing and pricing; and Ray Kuntz, American Trucking Association chairman and CEO of Watkins and Shepard Trucking, Inc.
